Red squares are shown instead of thumbnails.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click the icon to take a picture
2. in the thumbnail section, only a red square is shown
Actual Results:  
in the thumbnail section, only a red square is shown

Expected Results:  
A thumbnail of the picture taken

I created a patch that works for ubuntu...
Since it seems that the red squares are solely used to apply selection decoration, I removed it and so it now uses the default selection...
(see screenshots for the results)
