This looks more like a bug in kipi plugins than in gwenview. Could you test if this also occurs when using the advanced slideshow under digikam? (It's in view -> slideshow -> advanced slideshow.) Yes, the issue persisted with digiKam as well. I surmise the problem could be due to lack of graphics card support. I have Nvidia Gpx 540M with Optimus technology. It used to work fine when I tried launching the application with optirun <program_name>. But now due to some driver update, Open GL effects are not working at all. I moved the bug to kipiplugins. Could you add the version of kipiplugins you are using, please? If you can provide the information requested in comment #3, please add it. 4:3.0.0-precise~ppa2 seems to be the version (from Synaptic). Not sure if this is correct as it is not available as an option in version dropdown above. Pls look in to the issue, i miss the Open GL effects in slideshow mode. I really liked the Cube effect.
