You're aware that you can just alt+scroll on the titlebar? The window rules are meant to automatically control window aspects for certain windows under certain conditions, not as online attribute mod interface. --- End user help is provided at forum.kde.org I created bug #303756 to add scripting support to the menu so that we could easily distribute a script to add an opacity menu again. (In reply to comment #1) > You're aware that you can just alt+scroll on the titlebar? > The window rules are meant to automatically control window aspects for > certain windows under certain conditions, not as online attribute mod > interface. > > --- > End user help is provided at forum.kde.org No I wasn't and alt-scrolling at title bar does absolutely nothing for me. You mean holding alt-key and scroll with the mouse wheel? (just to be sure we mean the same action....) And why should I be aware, this was available as menu item as long I can think of. Removing it makes not really sense for me, it was good location for that (not obviously) relevant setting. Ingenuous users might think it's just a eye candy feature but it isn't. It's really helpful for tracing images or comparing stuff on maps. I guess there are a lot of possible ways to use it otherwise. Now the usability might have been improved to those who know about it, but I am not sure if people new to KDE would think about the option to alt-scroll the title bar, I found it in the menu once I was new. The question is will you realize about the availability of this option, when you are a new user, what I mean is, I like the new usability and will use it (when it starts working for me) but I think it would be good to put that menu setting back in there as it was. kcmshell4 kwinoptions titlebar and window options -> configure wheel behavior. -> this might be a bug indeed because the config was added lately and pot. dopped the former default behavior. there are now global shortcuts as well (kcmshell4 keys) -- you might have noticed that the entire menu was restructured. if we'd put every useful kwin feature into the menu, the menu would no more be useful at all. also using the clientmenu to alter opacity was - as you noticed - not ideal as well (don't suggest to have put a slider there - was my first approach far back then and got replaced by the distinct entries) short notice: Review Request https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/106285/ contains an extension that scripts can add entries to the Alt+F3 menu and the testing section contains example code for the opacity menu |
