- What I was doing when the application crashed:

When I tried to change date/time, I got a crash. If I am not mistaken, the clock uses akonadi in some way.

The problems started after I upgraded kde as described here: http://de.opensuse.org/SDB:KDE_Upgrade
After the upgrade, whenever I log in, I get an error message "Unable to fetch item from backend".  According to some information in the web, I should reset akonadi (not done yet). So, the two problems may be related, but that is beyond my expertise.
