kactivitymanagerd already implements lazy load. plasma-desktop tries to access it during startup, so kactivitymanagerd will always be launched in a Plasma Desktop session. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 275302 *** |
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu/11.10 Chromium/15.0.874.106 Chrome/15.0.874.106 Safari/535.2 Build Identifier: i don't use activities on my netbook, in fact they are not even mentioned in [the default] plasma-netbook interface. still the 'top' tool shows that kactivitymanagerd is running constantly on my system, consuming 18 mb of RAM (38mb in vmware kubuntu image at my workplace). removing /usr/share/kde4/services/kactivitymanagerd.desktop solved the problem for me locally, but i would like KDE to behave well by default so that the general percievement of KDE being ram-hubgry would be no longer so much true. Reproducible: Always Expected Results: kactivitymanagerd running only when it is needed, e.g. more than one activity ('room' in russian translation) is configured, and/or activity manager is accessible via UI. i.e. i ask you to implement what is called 'lazy loading technique'
