Update to last 2.5.0 and try again. This have been fixed with a version > 2.3.0 Gilles Caulier Hi, Many thanks for your quick reply and for your help! The problem still exists. I uninstalled the previous version of digiKam completely, removed respective folders and downloaded + unpacked the digikam-2.5.0.tar.bz2. I followed the compilation steps as stated on digikam.org however the installation terminated with an error due to "missing CMakeLists.txt file in the build folder" which I created to proceed with the CMake Command in the build folder: mkdir build cd build cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=relwithdebinfo -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` .. Tried it several times with the same result. Then I found Philipp Johnsons repo on launchpad, installed 2.5.0 directly, started it and experienced the same issue. Since libkipi is still version 4.7.4 I wonder if this should be 4.8 instead for the 2.5.0 version? Thanks again for your help! Regards, Stef yeah, this sounds essentially like a dup of bug #283572 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 283572 *** Thanks, guys, for your comments. Yesterday I wasn't even able to modify the theme in the systemsettings dialog (again) but today this seems to have changed for some reason. So now I found a compromise between the best readable font color in the dark grey main window and also the white album explorer. BTW: the tooltips are absolutely fine in my version! However, I wouldn't mark it as solved, although this is working for me now it's still not optimal. Maybe a noob question but would KDE 4.8 do the trick for the 2.5.0 version?
