I think two things are mixed in this bug-report: The first is that the search-panel is disabled and the second is that the search panel is shown/visible per default. For me the main-issue here is that it is shown/visible per default. This issue "only" occurs when upgrading from a 4.6 release, with a fresh user the search panel is disabled per default and is only shown when a searching has been started. I'll try to provide a patch for this... Regarding the issue that the search-panel is disabled: Currently it can be used only in combination with enabled Nepomuk + Strigi. Making this functionality available otherwise would technically be possible but mean a huge effort that (at least I) won't be able to handle. Still this would be a valid wish of course but I'd see this as separate bug-report if this is OK for you. There is no need to provide the functionality without using nepomuk/strigi. Just mediate the needed information to the user. The bug reports for the issues are: 1. Place an input field on the filter/search panel to enable the user to start a search (this bug report) 2. Do not enable the filter panel by default when updating 4.6 top 4.7 bug 279348. 3. Mediate to the user why the panel is disabled (all functionality greyed out) and how to enable it bug 279349. Resetting assignee to default as per bug #305719 It looks like all the issues brought up in this bug report have been resolved as of Dolphin 16.12.3 and 17.08.0. |
