Interesting, can you reproduce that with recent versions ? which plugins do you see in the kontact side bar ? I can't reproduce the crash but I can see an incorrect behaviour if the basket plugin is enabled ok, reproduced after clicking on the todo plugin and cannot reproduce now

kontact (4.7.3) on KDE Platform 4.7.3 (4.7.3) using Qt 4.7.4
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
after having deselcted some plugins (calendar,notes,etc, leaving mostly mail, contacs and to-do), creating a todo resource - upon selecting the button for creating a to-do, crashed.

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I deactivated the Journal function, hit the ok button and then Kontact crashed. Seems to be still valid in KDE 4.8
