Description Mohd Asif Ali Rizwaan 2011-06-08 04:54:02 UTC
Version:           0.2.0 (using Devel)
OS:                Linux

in Rekonq-Settings; network and search engines are dependent of konqueror; kubuntu, chakra, etc. only provide rekonq not konqueror; though it can be installed;

the point is "copy the required code from konqueror, and let rekonq be a full browser onto itself." or maybe get the code from konqueror's git and merge/include it in rekonq, so that dependency on konqueror for basic functionality is not there.

Thanks.

Reproducible: Didn't try

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.39-ARCH
Compiler: gcc

I agree on the initial statement. The "problem" is that for historical reasons, there are part kde-wise (Network and search engines as you correctly pointed out) whose code is in konqueror.

Targetting 0.10, to work on it after 0.9 stable release. Anyway, you'll see it in kde5...

I just debated about this problem with other KDE devs. Anyway, as said, this will be fixed in kde5.

Development on Rekonq ceased four years ago, and it has been unmaintained since then. KDE recommends using Falkon instead.
