Kmix 3.8 / KDE 4.6.3

All individual device channels : "PCM" "Line" "Mic" etc. Are missing in the "Playback devices" and "Capture devices" tabs

The "Settings --> Configure channels" setting is missing, and there is no way to get the missing channels back

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Happens always

Actual Results:
Only 1 channel ("Internal audio analog stereo") visible in "Playback devices" and "Capture devices" tabs

"Configure channels" does not exist

Expected Results:
All device channels visible

"Configure channels" can add or remove visible channels

Worked ok on same computer in KDE 4.3.X - 4.6.1

Update

Removing PulseAudio seems to solve the problem

Still it'd be nice to have option to ignore PulseAudio in KMIX settings or in SystemSettings, or to have a hint that the different tab layout in KMIX is related to PulseAudio

:)
Plz change this bug to Wishlist

Same here in Kubuntu 11.4. used workaround of including export KMIX_PULSEAUDIO_DISABLE in .bashrc. Don't know if it's an user, distirbution or KDE problem as there are some reports commenting PulseAudio should be supported but found no wayof fixing it.
Comment 3 Christian Esken 2011-08-16 20:36:25 UTC
It's a decision of the distribution to use Pulseaudio as default or not. Same goes to shipping their distribution with the OSSv4 driver. They should document it. Please refer to your distribution documentation/Website/Wiki. Closing as INVALID.

Future directions: In future versions (possibly already KDE4.8) it is planned to allow the user to select its preferred backend from the KMix GUI.
