Also, I forgot to show in the video that when you select the Desktop folder to be shown, you are just presented with a giant desktop icon. I found out through random chance that the desktop was in some odd activities view. I was able to reset it by restarting X and also I could have gotten it back to the default view by using some odd shortcut meta+tab which is a default shortcut for "Next Activity." Odd, because I was attempting to switch using the Desktop Settings menu, adjusting the Layout option with no luck.
