Well as long as URL in URL input field is not marked / selected expected results should more along the line of: http://wwwExperience Freedom!.kde.org/ The point is that Konqueror first steps to the url that Konqueror displayed before and *then* pasted the text. It seems this has to do that it is possible to cycle through the history of the URL input field by clicking the middle mouse button, the mouse wheel. But the middle mouse button should just paste. One can still cycle through the history rolling the mouse wheel up and down. I can't reproduce (tried KDE 4.6.2 on Opensuse and master). Pasting the clipboard contents either with Ctrl+V or by clicking the mouse wheel just inserts the text for me, without messing around with the history. Hmmm, with some recent update of Debian packages, all built from source package kdebase-workspace 4:4.6.2-2 (instead of -1), among them, this now works for me. Closing as WORKSFORME as its not known whether root cause has been fixed. Well now this again happens. Thus reopening. I don't know why it worked for some time before. And what do you get if you uncheck "Middle click opens URL in selection" by going to Settings -> Configure Konqueror -> Web Browsing ? Well it worked as expected, i.e. just pasted the text, after I unchecked this option. But then it also worked that way when I enabled it again. I restarted plasma-desktop and did kwin --replace due to some gfx corruption with open source radeon driver. Maybe it did already work after this. I will wait for the issue to reappear and then try your suggestion again. Thanks. I had the issue again. Disabling "Middle click opens URL in selection" does not help. I also tried killing all konqueror processes, but this also did not help. I observed the same thing also happens in the text input gadget for the search engine next to the URL gadget. These are all text input gadget with a history. To see whether it happens in other applications expect Konqueror and Rekonq I tried pasting something into the Location text input field of Dolphin that you get, when you click into the path display / selector field. There the bug does not happen. Ahh... You are not talking about MMB pasting into the page itself, but the location bar. Well that is the same as the other two issues you reported which stems from the fact that you do not understand how X windows treats selection vs copying. Perhaps you use kclipboard, not entirely sure since I do not use it, but this is the correct behavior in X windows. Your first selection will always get overwritten by the second selection unless you actually copy the first selection into the clipboard. See bug 255777. Dawit, I know about the difference of the Ctrl-C, Ctrl-X / Ctrl-V and mouse selected text "clipboards". What I observe here in KDE 4.6 has been different with KDE 4.4. But my description on how to reproduce the bug has been incomplete. The thing I mean is that the location goes back in history when I middle click on it. Maybe the following is best: Steps to Reproduce: - Open Konqueror - Enter "http://www.kde.org" and load that page - copy the text "Experience Freedom!" or some other text just with left mouse button and dragging - *open a new tab or konqueror window* - paste the into the new empty URL field Expected results: - "Experience Freedom!" cause the location bar has been *empty* before Actual results: - something like: http://www.kdeExperience Freedom!.org When I click further the location bar goes back in history like if I pressed cursor up key additionally to pasting the text. It should just paste the text, but go back one step in history and then paste the text. This going back in history doesn´t happen directly after logging in to the KDE session, but after a while. I didn´t see this in KDE 4.4, I am not sure about 4.5. So I am pretty sure this is a real issue. I hope it is more clear. If not, please don´t close the bug, but ask back. Thanks. I tried today again after upgrading to 4.6.3 packages from Debian. Then I could not reproduce on the test account, also not on my private and my company account even tough I did not log out and then in again after the package upgrade. Thus I close the bug report. Should it happen again, I will reopen. Thanks The issue appeared again. If I only had an idea on what triggers this and why it then appears normal again for a while. Well reopened. Let us combine this with its cousin since they are the same issue using the same KDE widgets. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 22035 *** *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 272035 *** Ok, so this is basically dupe of 272037, I got a bit confused about cross dupping.. |
