Description Marcin Gryszkalis 2011-03-27 15:42:48 UTC
Version: 2.3.0
OS: Linux

This is base bug for all problems with special characters.

There are many cases where Krusader fails because of "strange" characters.

Reproducible: Didn't try

While browsing an FTP server Krusader refuses to open or download directories/files that contain non-unicode international characters in their names.
I get this error when the filenames contain Windows CP-1250 characters. I tested the same behaviour using a command line FTP-client (NCFTP) and it seems to work fine with the same files.

I tested that on Krusader version 2.0.0 and a fresh SVN 2.1.0 beta on Kubuntu AMD64.

Bookmarks error on non-english characters

When I am adding to bookmarks folder which contains non-english characters (for example - in polish it will be ą ś ć ż ł and so on) everything seems to be ok. Krusader don't report any errors. But then when I am trying to open such bookmark, krusader gives me error that such folder doesn't exist.
I am uploading a file with correct folder filename and then with error from krusader.

Cannot Bookmark Non-US Character Folder

I am using Krusader 2.0.0-beta2 "Space Odyssey" with UTF-8 local settings (LANG=ko_KO.UTF-8) in Ubuntu 8.10 x64.
Bookmark doesn't work for Korean named folders. When I click 'Bookmark Current' for Korean-named folder, Krusader shows some the folder name by codes (like %24%73... something something...) not the name in Korean.

Even if I bookmarked with the codes, I cannot go back to the folder. When I click the bookmark I just created with the codes, Krusader says 'Directory /home/xxxx/xxxx/$$$ does not exist!'

'Manage Bookmarks' button does not work at all, as well.

Can any one help?

Non latin filenames problem

I tried to download via ftp files with non-latin names, but Krusader reporting that it "Couldn't read" the file. I think the problem is that filenames originaly were encoded to cp1251, but ftp server encoding is UTF-8,

Can you try on a newer version of Krusader? (2.7.x)

Some changes were made in KIO and Krusader to handle better utf8, but it also require a proper locale configuration (see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371582)
