Description Michael 2011-03-03 04:36:50 UTC
Version: 4.4.10 (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

Following setup:
2 incoming accounts, myfirst@example.com and mysecond@other.com
2 outgoing accounts, both matching the corresponding incoming accounts

When I get an email to mysecond@other.com and want to answer, the standard account from which it is sent should be the outgoing account of mysecond@other.com.

This could be checked by the incoming and outgoing accoung either (1) having the same name or (2) the same associated email address.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Answer any email that is not sent to your primary address.

Actual Results:
KMail delivers messages from the wrong address or fails to deliver messages when the primary outgoing account is not accessible.

Expected Results:
The addresses where the original message was sent to and the answering account should match.

Yup, I should not have to remember to manually select the account to send replies from. There have been many times I've accidentally replied to and email from my university inbox with my personal account.

You can specify the identity that should be used when you reply to messages in a folder. (Or set it on each account and make sure the Folder is set to "inherit from parent".) This is in the view with all the accounts and folders, right-click and properties.
However, there's bug 299270 which means that currently this does not work for many IMAP accounts.

Oh word, didn't know that existed. Thanks. I suppose the bug should be "too many of KMail's settings are hidden away and less than intuitive to find."
