Description Ulrich Fieseler 2011-02-21 20:51:13 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

In a German OpenSUSE 11.4RC1 installation featuring KDE 4.6, clicking on the network manager icon in the taskbar gives me a menu using the English term "enable network" rather than something like "Netzwerk aktivieren". Also, when I go to the connection manager, it has two setup pages selectable, the icon for the second one being labeled "Other" rather than "Sonstiges" (that's the page where you can choose not to use KWallet, e.g.).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just click, and for the second one select the appropriate menu entry before clicking again.

Actual Results:
The english phrases showed up.

Expected Results:
German phrases should show up.

No special setup beyond what OpenSUSE provides in 11.4RC1.

I could probably fix that myself, but so far I have not been involved in KDE development at all.

Also the network adapters are translated correctly as “Drahtlosnetzwerk“ and such but the status is english “Setting up network“, “Connected to xyz“ or “Getting IP address”. I think I already mentioned this to the German i18n team but I will have a look at the translation files myself today :) Stay tuned.

Hm I looked through all files related to knetworkmanager plasmoid (knetworkmanager.po, plasma_applet_networkmanager.po, desktop_extragear-base_networkmanager.po) in extragear-base but I don‘t find a way of translating those and there are just a few minor things untranslated. Looking for “Connected” lists it correctly translated as “Verbunden”.
But I cannot find your terms in particular. Maybe someone else of the translator team knows better :)

That is an i18n bug, nothing the german team can fix, see

"Enable networking" in extragear-base/ is fully translated to german for plasma_applet_networkmanagement and knetworkmanager.

Do you use the applet or knetworkmanager?

The "Other" page in knetworkmanager settings dialog is translated using trunk/branch 4.6 compiled from sources, so this is a SuSe issue.

Look how old the sources are on openSUSE.

Closing it as downstream.

Seems to be fixed in Natty Narwhal Beta 2, all the things in the Plasmoid, like “Connecting to xyz” or “Unmanaged” are translated.
Unfortunately, the notifications (“Wireless network appeared” and others) are all untranslated although the .po files contain the translations, I just checked that.
