(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kmail
Version: 1.2 (using KDE 2.1.2 )
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: SuSE
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
OS: Linux 2.4.0 i686
OS/Compiler notes:

My e-mail server went down today and doing so made me realize something that would be really nice for Kmail. Let me first explain that I have several e-mail accounts on my server (i.e. one for news one for the kde mailing list one for general correspondence etc.) all of which are suppose to be checked every few minutes.
However if my server is down when I try to check my mail I get an error message for each and every one of those accounts one at a time (in this case "Connection Refused" errors). It seems it would be nice if there was a "unified" message box that collected all the errors that could be hidden or perhaps popup only after the send/receive was complete. That way you don't get a bunch of the same error messages in seperate little windows. Outlook Express has something like this.
This brings me to the second suggestion. It'd be nice if the retrieval action was unified too. For example right now I want each e-mail account to be checked every 10 minutes. It'd be nice rather than setting each e-mail address seperately to this I could just say I want my e-mail to be checked every 10 minutes.
Finally if this was possible it'd be nice if the status of the retrievals could be put in the same dialog box (that is only shown optionally) that is used for error messages. That way I could bring up this box and see "Oh it's currently downloading message 9/10 in the kde e-mail address." This feature is also similar to Outlook Express' send/receive dialog box.

Thanks for your time and great e-mail application. It is the BEST e-mail application I have found for Linux/UNIX.

  Best
     Tim
