I have a notebook with ati radeon hd5730. I was trying to enable 3d effects for the desktop but they are disabled by default in the driver, maybe because the videocard isn't fully recognized. I've tried to chose radeonhd in xorg and the got this crash of desktop configuration.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

I've tried to change my drivers to radeon/fglrx from radeonhd/fglrx and the crash disappeared. I have still no 3d effects and can't enable them.

You might want to check a newer KDE version (4.4.5, 4.5.4, or 4.6 RC1) or a newer version of the driver if you cannot enable 3d effects. If the problem persists with newer versions, please report a bug for "kwin".
