I'm not sure it is possible to change 'Mic Boost' with pulseaudio at all. Reassigning it to PulseAudio backend (since you use it; and it is likely to work with ALSA backend) what about speakers' boost? that is possible through PulseAudio (since it's in pavucontrol), not through Kmix I do not understand the request. Can Pulseaudio control boost volumes? How? Please add a screenshot. Can KMix not control it, though Pulseaudio can? Please report back. Created attachment 74439 [details]

As you can see in the picture, in pavucontrol it is possible to boost the volume (the example is the output device, but the same applies to mic) - notice it is 118% now.
Gnome sound settings provide this possibility too, while Kmix doesn't seem to - the volume slider stays on 100% even if one further raises the volume through pavucontrol, and at that point changing the volume in Kmix moves the volume back to values <100
