Description Janet 2010-11-01 16:37:49 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.2)
OS: Linux

I just downloaded some files to my home directory. Then I switched to timeline:/ and entered "today". But no files there. A refresh does not help. Switching to regular mode and sorting by date (descending) shows the files in first place.

Reproducible: Always

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.36-0.slh.2-aptosid-686
Compiler: cc

Do you know if the initial strigi indexing is already finished? You can check that in the systemsettings.
Comment 2 Janet 2010-11-19 13:30:30 UTC
In systemsettings strigi is activated but inactive by now. I guess that the very first initial strigi indexing is finished, yes. At least it does only index from time to time now when required. Nepomuk (resp. virtuoso resp. strigi I guess) completely freezes konqueror after a download quite often for some minutes (but that's another Bug 254373) so some data investigation seems to be done.

I just expect, when I download something and then go to "today" that I find all downloaded files there, no matter when today I downloaded them. Even the file I downloaded a minute ago should appear there - well, ok, I am willing to give it ten minutes... Isn't that meant to be that way?

It is meant to be that way indeed. It does work here in 4.6.
Also be aware that only files in indexed folders can be seen by timeline. By default this is your home folder.

Ping.

Could you please confirm if you still experience this bug in any recent KDE version? Say 4.9?
Comment 5 Vishesh Handa 2013-01-16 13:31:09 UTC
Ping.

Considering how old this bug is, I'm marking it as FIXED. Specially since the timeline kio slave is now very public and has been tested extensively.
