Hej, KAddressBook in 4.4 is a complete rewrite from scratch, therefor not all features of the 4.3 version made it into 4.4 in time. > 1.1. The ability to categorise the address book entry (that is, categorise an > entry as, for example, "manufacturer", "client", "colleague", etc.), Back in 4.5 > 1.2. The ability to create custom fields. Back in 4.5 > 1.3. The ability to apply changes to an address book entry without having to > close the entry. Won't come back, that's how the new Akonadi based address book works. > 1.4. The ability to copy an address book entry and paste it as a duplicate > entry in the address book for subsequent use as a template to create similar > entries. You mean pasting in the same address book you copied it from? Hmm, true, can you file a separated bug report for this, please? > 1.5. The ability to select the type of entry, such as "organization", "reverse > name with Comma", etc., has been SEVERELY curtailed. Already available in 4.4. You can select the format of the display name with the combobox in the contact editor. > 2. Many other features are missing thus rendering the current address book > (namely, version 4.4.2) very INFERIOR compared to the previous version. Most of these issues have already been fixed in KDE-PIM 4.5. Feel free to test. > 3. These are SERIOUS DEFICIENCIES in the product. KAddressBook 4.4 is the first application that makes use of the new PIM access library Akonadi. This is completely new technology which still had issues in this early phase, however in 4.5 it has improved a lot. Ciao, Tobias |
