i can confirm on kde 4.5, happens eg. when going to/from suspend. really should show via kde's pop-ups or maybe not at all. It's related to bugs 214337, 216817 and 243922. They describes why you have "Invalid password" error. The bug I think that multiple try to connect to Google when connection was lost. *** Bug 250554 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** can confirm this and it happens on resume/suspend and when the network connection drops. kde 4.5.1 kubuntu packages. I use the nm-applet networkmanager as well rather than knetworkmanager as the KDE one doesn't support DNS settings on Mobile Broadband. As my notebook is going off to suspend I can see one dialog appear for a split second for the screen turns off. When I resume there are between 2 and 16 dialogues appear with matching entries in the taskbar. When the network connection is up the dialogues do not appear. hope this info helps. maybe the bug could be confirmed ? This is still happening in KDE 4.7 although it is now only 1 or 2 alert dialogs with the title: "akonadi_google_resource" Text: "Invalid password or network proxy." Akonadi icon is in the system tray at this time. Steps to reproduce: * set up Google data resource (calendar, contacts) * confirm the user/password is correct (browse contacts, look at calendar etc) * Then either do: 1 - Network Manager resets connection * click on network manager in system tray * click current connection to reconnect * wait for reconnect * dialog will appear on screen from Akonadi. Note it may be in a different Activity. OR 2 - Suspend * Suspend your laptop * Resume * Dialog will appear when the desktop comes back up Reproducible: * Always. Only happens when network is down, so Akonadi is working fine. Solutions: * Don't show the dialog at all if there is no network connection. I know my connection is down because my laptop is resuming or I manually reconnected with Network Manager. In this case the alert is superfluous noise. A user can dig around a bit more and visit google.com in their browser if they are unsure about connection, or look at the connection icon from NM. * Push the alert to the notification thing in the systray if that's not possible * If that's not possible, have a "never show again" checkbox in the alert box Other than this little annoyance 4.7 is working great. Thanks! James Bug #243922 may be related ? I confirm Comment #5 in my kde 4.7 also. This doesn't seem to happen anymore in kde 4.7.3 Akonadi 1.6.2 Qt: 4.7.4 KDE Development Platform: 4.7.3 (4.7.3) I am running Debian unstable here (KDE 4.7.4 and Akonadi 1.6.2) and still get the error message. This bug has only been reported for versions older than KDEPIM 4.14 (at most akonadi-1.3). Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a recent version of akonadi (part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months. Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input. |
