Description Frans Leerink 2010-05-10 17:53:35 UTC
Version: unknown (using 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2), openSUSE Factory)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.34-rc5-6-desktop

Hello,

This happens in openSUSE 11.3 - Milestone 6.

I set up my Panel on the top of my screen and the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen and configure it my way.

After every Restart or Shutdown-Start combination the configuration of the Panel is screwed-up. Everything moves to the left and program/widget icons change position.
For details see 2 attached screen captures from before and after a restart.

Regards, Frans

Same problem for me:
I usually use three plasma panels with different location and geometry.
But for the added panels its position is always reset after login into KDE.

I already had this problem with the previous KDE SC iteration but the problem
somehow disappeared. However it does not disappear since fresh install of opensuse-11.3.

Additionally starting with SC 4.4.4 the geometry of a single panel is also reset on every login.
I put this panel to the left border and it has a may be unususally big width (to hold a usable pager with nine virtual desktops).

This is similar to Bug 228031 but is no duplicate, because there is stated
> panels aligned left, right, centered or full-width are restored
> correctly correctly.
and I can reproduce this with centered and left aligned panels.

Hello,

I have now installed openSUSE 11.3 (i586), using OS linux 2.6.34-12-default
i686 and KDE 4.4.4 (KDE 4.4.4) "release 2".

My panel is still at the top of my screen and the taskbar at the bottum.

The problem is still the same see attached screenshots.
This is now the 3rd time that I report the same basic bug. (2 times in this bug
report and also in bug 227573 (last part)). See also bug 236954

The severity has gone up since I now have to spend every morning 5-10 minutes
to sort out the mess in my panel because it is now my life system.

Regards, Frans

and with 4.5 and/or 4.6? i haven't seen any reports of this post-4.4 (and the code around this is fairly different now), so i'm going to optimistically close this report. if you can reproduce it with 4.6, please re-open. thanks.
Comment 8 Frans Leerink 2010-12-16 03:20:50 UTC
Hallo Aaron,

Unfortunately but the problem still exists in KDE 4.5.80 (4.6 Beta 1) of:
 OS LINUX 2.6.37-rc3-git1-6-default i686
 System openSUSE 11.4 Milestone 4 of 6

I reopen this problem and send 2 screen captures before and after restarting KDE via logout-login

Regards, Frans

PS Aaron, Is the STATUS UNCONFIRMED the same as REOPEN. ?? If not please can you reopen the problem

Hello,

I have retested it with a new install of

openSUSE 11.4 (RC1) DVD, Build1056-i586.iso and now it worked correctly.

Regards, Frans

I have changed the status to RESOLVED-FIXED. Is that oke ?
