On my Latitude D630 laptop with Archlinux and KDE 4.4, I use Kontact for my email with my IMAP account. 

If I close my lid (which activates standby mode) while Kontact is running and then resume my computer later, Kontact cannot connect to my account again until I close it and reopen it. Instead, it says "checking account for new email" endlessly, and it cannot access any of my folders either.

All of my other apps (Firefox, etc) are able to access my connection after resuming from standby but if Kontact is running while I go on standby and then resume it cannot access my IMAP account.
