After the update from KDE 4.4.2 to KDE 4.4.3 (and thus from phonon 4.4.0 to phonon 4.4.1) I cannot hear sound using the phonon-xine backend while using the pulseaudio sound daemon. I can see the client applications (amarok or knotify) as playback sources in pavucontrol, but I can hear nothing.

Non phonon applications, like firefox, play their sounds perfectly through pulseaudio.

A downgrade to phonon-4.4.0 solve the problem for phonon based (KDE) applications like amarok and knotify.

Please check with your distribution, this only happens with OpenSuSE.
