Version: (using KDE 4.4.3)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

When you press CTRL-L, you cycle between apple-esque clickable location "list" and a plain address in the address bar.

The default from Konqueror is to empty the address/location bar while Iceweasel defaults to simply selecting the whole text.

My assumption is that only power users need this feature anyway and thus selecting the whole location is a reasonable default which makes going to the next location just that special little tad faster.

Ctrl+L in dolphin, type .kde4

F6 marks address line without adding to clipboard.
Marking address line is a folder action of klipper.

Firefox Ctrl+L (openSUSE 11.2):
marks address line, copies to clipboard but doesn't open HTML-Document action of klipper which can manually be invoked.

Is there any reason in having the shortcuts this way? Only Microsoft Internet Explorer uses F6 for marking the address line.

If you often enter the address manually, hitting F6 is just ways less comfortable than Ctrl-L.
