Please check if this patch fixes your problem with media detection.
Your patch didn't help, unfortunately. It's still the same. It is not rewritable, just DVD-R DL. I've overriden it by creating an ISO image first and then burning it. It burns now but there's a minor problem with a dialog that's asking me whether I want to add the ISO image into the data project that's opened or burn it directly - when I hit the "Burn the image directly" button the dialog didn't disappear and it was stuck behind the burn-progress window. But that's a detail compared to the original bug. Could you please check if DVD-R DL is amongst the supported writing media types as reported by K3b's device settings. Yep. It is there. Insert the DVD-R DL and then try Device->Media Info. What does k3b think the disc is? I should clarify my previous comment. It would be good if you could show us all of the medium info. @David Watzke: could you paste the info requested in comment #7. Without your help we wouldn't able to resolve the issue. I'm sorry but I don't have any DVD-R DL medium at the moment, so I can't provide the needed info. Ok, I'm changing status of the bug to "waiting for info" till more info will be provided.
