Description Martin Steigerwald 2010-03-26 12:46:31 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

I have four activities, each one on one desktop:

+---------------- +----------------+
| 1: Information | 2:Documents |
| | |
| | |
+-----------------+----------------+
| 3:Communication | 4:System |
| | |
| | |
+-----------------+----------------+

Nonetheless, when I try to configure or fix up the messup that Plasma does to my activity setup from time to time (see bug #232172, bug #232203), Plasma sometimes invents a new generic activities. Its almost impossible to just have those four activities. One of them assigned to each of the desktop just as shown above.

I found this in KDE 4.3 upto 4.3.4 already and don't bother to delete such generic activities anymore.

Expected results: Again just let the activity/desktop setup stay as I set it. I *know* what I am doing. Period. No offence meant. Its just right now I do not feel much motivitation to use Plasma activities anymore.

example of such an invented activity

When I remove Plasma re-adds it a second afterwards again.

Whats going on here? If Plasma needs some standard activity to choose for desktops that have no otherwise assigned activity it should do at least two things:

1) Mark it as a standard / default activity so that I know that.

2) Don't let me delete it. Yes, here as an exception I agree that Plasma shouldn't let me do something.

But aside from that I have 4 desktops and 4 activities, so I don't get why it needs a fifth activity at all. If I created a new desktop Plasma could create a new activity for me. But as long as I have as much activities as desktops I think it should leave me alone.
