What I was doing when the application crashed:
System: Kubuntu 9.10, KDE 4.3.2, Amarok 2.2

Amarok crashes when trying to start. Even deleting the folder $home/.kde/share/apps/amarok doesn't help. But it is still possible to start amarok as root. Therefore I think the problem is dependend on a setting of another application.
