Summary: Create new folder doesn't respect the Rename inline option
Product: [Applications] dolphin Reporter: Unknown <null>
Component: generalAssignee: Dolphin Bug Assignee <dolphin-bugs-null>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: wishlist CC: elvis.angelaccio, finex
Priority: NOR
Version: 16.12.2
Target Milestone: ---
Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Linux
Latest Commit: Version Fixed In:

Description Unknown 2009-11-15 08:19:39 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Steps to reproduce:
- Go to Settings -> Configure Dolphin -> General
- Make sure "Rename inline" is ticked
- Open any folderview and create a new folder (F10)

Dolphin will show the obtrusive "rename" popup when the folder is created. It should instead respect the Rename inline option and just create the folder with its new name highlighted.

Thanks for your input. Creating a new folder has nothing to do with renaming (there is no old file that must be renamed -> the popup is a different dialog). However I've classified this as feature request, as I agree that people who like to rename inline also want to specify the name for a new folder inline.

I like this idea too :-)

Resetting assignee to default as per bug #305719

There is a newer report with an interesting discussion about the problems of this feature.
