Akregator should be able to sync with Google Reader and other online RSS readers.
Comment 1 industrie13 2009-12-04 23:34:05 UTC
Akregator should be able to sync with Google Reader and other online RSS
readers ... maybe via Akonadi.
Comment 2 Ruslan Levitskiy 2010-03-18 00:13:11 UTC
I agree with you. I need this feature too.

Comment 5 Ruslan Levitskiy 2010-10-21 12:41:13 UTC
This application unusable for me without support of GR. :(

Long time is passed since this bug was "new"... now it seem to get to old.
The strange thing is that this feature was present in previous version...
Will 2011 bring us some luck? ;)
Comment 10 Michał Gawroński 2011-01-25 18:35:15 UTC
Truth is that KDE will never become popular (to compete with Windows or MacOS) if its users will be forced to use their DE and mobile phones separately. KDE *must* support (and integrate into) closely at least most popular online services/cloud computing services used by mobile providers, and Google Reader is one of most important
Comment 11 Denis Terskov 2011-09-17 14:28:22 UTC
I need this feature!
Comment 12 Todd 2011-09-26 09:28:25 UTC
This would be extremely useful, both for syncing my feeds with my phones and syncing them between my home and work computer.
Comment 13 Gandalf Lechner 2012-01-02 08:09:34 UTC
Is there someone working on this? Would be a very helpful feature to sync feeds with my phone.
Comment 14 Sebastian 2012-01-07 17:57:19 UTC
liferea has this feature, including two way synchronization. http://liferea.sourceforge.net/help160/greader_en.html

why not using their code and rewrite it for akregator? shouldn't be that difficult, i think.
Comment 15 wakkas.m 2012-02-18 22:22:51 UTC
It should be great, why don't as Sebastian suggests?

Comment 17 Tristan Miller 2013-03-14 08:52:36 UTC
Google Reader is being shuttered on 1 July 2013: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2013/03/a-second-spring-of-cleaning.html so plans for supporting synch for Akregator can be dropped.

What are the "other online RSS readers" mentioned in the original report? If there are none in particular, or no standard API, then this bug can probably be closed as WONTFIX.
Comment 18 Christophe Marin 2013-03-14 16:31:13 UTC
As Tristan wrote, Akregator will not support Google reader. The Akonadi resource that was developed in a work branch was also deleted today.
Comment 19 Boerny 2013-03-14 16:34:15 UTC
I propose to sync with Owncloud News https://github.com/owncloud/apps/tree/master/news.

As the developers themselves (http://algorithmsforthekitchen.com/blog/?p=479) proclaimed:
Google Reader is dead. Long live ownCloud News!

I think Tiny Tiny RSS would be a good reader alternative. There's an extra ticket for TTRSS over there: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=319386
