Thanks for the bug report, but I can't confirm (tried KDE 4.3.2 with Qt 4.5.2 and trunk with Qt 4.6 from kde-qt).

How did you extract the file? I tried the context menu action and doing it on the command line in an external terminal. Does it depend on the view mode (Icons/Details/Columns)? Are Previews enabled?
Comment 2 Philippe ROUBACH 2009-10-12 21:48:13 UTC
<< How did you extract the file?

right click on the tar.gz
then
select "extract here"

dolphin is in "icon view" mode
Comment 3 Frank Reininghaus 2009-10-12 22:06:43 UTC
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm still unable to reproduce - the new folder is shown directly here.
Comment 4 Philippe ROUBACH 2009-10-13 13:15:15 UTC
mandriva 2010.0rc2 uses qt 4.5.3
Comment 5 Dhiraj Kumar Hazra 2009-10-13 16:45:49 UTC
I can confirm this bug.Seems that this is independent of arch.Happens in 64bit too.
using kde 4.3.2/qt 4.5.3
Thanks
Comment 6 Frank Reininghaus 2009-10-13 17:49:52 UTC
Thanks for the feedback - maybe it's due to some regression in Qt then? I have no good way to test Qt 4.5.3 at the moment, and my trunk build which runs Qt 4.6 does not offer me the "Extract" action in the context menu, probably because I have not built Ark trunk from source (and I don't have the time to do that at the moment).
Comment 7 Philippe ROUBACH 2009-10-13 18:10:00 UTC
for me this is an old bug since Mandriva 2010.0b1
don't know if 2010.0b1 was using qt 4.5.3

i did not send any bug report before
Comment 8 Federico Stafforini 2009-10-18 05:23:52 UTC
I have had this bug (or a variant of it) consistently, since kernel 2.6.31. Enabling Nepomuk Semantic Desktop on System Settings fixed it. Perhaps you could try disabling Nepomuk and using kernel 2.6.31 to reproduce it?

Comment 11 Ahmad Samir 2009-11-10 01:39:27 UTC
I don't think it's related to the gvfs bug.

Comment 13 Frank Reininghaus 2010-02-02 12:15:26 UTC
This was a regression due to changes in the 2.6.31 kernel. Fixed in 4.3.5 and 4.4 RC 1 and later.

@Ahmad: Thanks for the Hint!
