Sorry to say that this backtrace is rather useless as it does not contain any debugging information. (In reply to comment #1) > Sorry to say that this backtrace is rather useless as it does not contain any > debugging information. Just tried to help. Tha above information was generated by the program itself and I have no clue at all if it is useful or useless to anyone concerned the solution of this problem. This problem is happening all the time. I can do anything in Kmail except delete a message, no matter what directory it is located. Whether I press del or try to delete using the right mouse button click options it makes no difference, the program crashes and generates the above message. Thanks for your report. If you can reproduce it that often it would be great if you would install the debug-info packages and report a new crash afterwards, which would then contain the exact line numbers in the kmail code. BTW: are you using IMAP, POP or local mails ? Ok, I would like to do that, just need a detailed how-to as I am relatively new to Linux and a total freshman to KDE. > BTW: are you using IMAP, POP or local mails ? POP. I was considering from Thunderbird to KMail when this problem began. Problem is, I have no clue about the Debian package management. I can give you an example on openSuse, which is RPM based: kmail without the debug information is in a package called kmail-4.3.1-156.2 Then there is another package called kdepim4-debuginfo-4.3.1-156.2 which I need to install in addition to have a nice backtrace. If that doesn't give you enough information, please ask the question regarding the debug package again on the PIM users mailing list kdepim-users@kde.org A hint regarding the initial problem: Try to recreate the index files. You can do this by right-clicking on a folder -> Properties -> Maintenance -> Recreate Index You will find more details on this page. More informations on this page: http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports For this issue, installing the debug package for kdepim should be enough. Thank you Martin and Christophe. I will try to follow your instructions and as soon as I get the information I will post it here. Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you! |
