- Do you experience the crash all the times?
- Do you have a MSN account ? If you have, can you downgrade libmsn to beta6 and check if that fixes this ? (beta7 is causing too much trouble in Kopete)

yeah the crush happens everytime i shut down kopete. otherwise the program functions well.
there is an msn account. I don't mind downgrading libmsn but I'm gonna need instructions about how to do it.

- To downgrade:
 - Browse to "cd /var/cache/pacman/pkg/"
 - Run "pacman -U libmsn-4.0beta6-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz" as (change i686 to x86_64 if you need it)

the file doesn't seem to be in that directory
how do i get it?

If you don't have it in the cache (is your Arch installation really recent?) you may need to search it in some outdated repositories (which I don't know where to find): it is troublesome. Don't worry.. Thanks anyways

The installation is only 2 days old.

I will be hard to find, ArchLinux repositories are oftern updated. 

Also, you mentioned the wrong package name "libmsn-4.0beta6-1-i686_64.pkg.tar.gz"
If you use i686:
libmsn-4.0beta6-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
If you use 64 bits:
libmsn-4.0beta6-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz

We broke binary compatibility in libmsn, please recompile Kopete or tell distribution to provide new recompiled Kopete packages.
