That is by design, the users would be even more confused if sort orders were remembered per folder automatically. If you really want per-folder sort orders, click the sorting button in the quick search field and chose "Folder always uses this sort order". That makes the sort order of this folder _not_ use the global sort order. And yeah, we know that the UI for this can be improved. |
