kcm_kdm has a tab "Background" where you can select a picture and a position.
Unfortunately, the preview on the right hand side does not update when changing the picture or the position property. One has to e.g. minimize and restore the window to enforce a repaint of the preview area.
The preview picture should be repainted everytime when the picture or position property changes.
