This is not a bug, but intended behavior. Also, Amarok's tag editor doesn't "corrupt" files, no idea where you get that from. You can edit tags with an external editor if that suits you better, try kid3, easytag or picard. So any files without tags/with wrong tags more or less can't be searched for?
