Version:           2.0.2 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), 4.2.2-12.fc10 Fedora)
Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.27.21-170.2.56.fc10.i686

In the collection, Amarok correctly sorts albums (under each artist) by year. (Unfortunately, it sorts them in descending order where ascending order would be better - or at least the option to choose between them. I believe there is an earlier bug report about this.) 

But that is not the point. The point is that when I doubleclick an artist, or drag it into my playlist, the albums get sorted alphabetically by title, not ascending by year as they are supposed to (and as they did in Amarok 1.4).

Amarok 2.0.2 is already a bit old. Could you upgrade to Amarok 2.1 and tell us if this still happens?

Yes, the behaviour is the same in Amarok 2.1.

This strange sorting also happens with dragonplayer and VLC, when one opens a file, the list in the dialog is sorted in reverse order. Some KDE bug maybe?

I don't quite understand comment #4. What do you do in VLC or Dragon Player to replicate this behaviour?

Well, start the application, then open a file: the file browser shows sorting in reverse order.

As Amarok uses the underlying KDE, this could well be a KDE problem.

By "file browser" do you mean the "Open File" dialog window? If so, that does not happen on my system. (Nor does it have anything to do with the original bug, as far as I can see.)

In Amarok 2.2 you can sort the playlist by year, so it should fix the problem.
