I have set a .wav file to play when new mail is received (the SouthPark / AOL one - "Oh my God, you've got mail, you bastard!).  This clip is 3 seconds long and plays via any media player perfectly, however when new mail is received it only plays as far as "Oh my God" then cuts off.

I haven't tried any OGG file or converting this one, or any other wav but like I say it plays just fine under mplayer or other player.

I also have this problem with KDE 4.2.4, also installed from the Gentoo packages. I'm also using a .wav file (the doorbell from Babylon 5) as an incoming mail notification. It gets cut off almost every time, but in varying places. Every once in a while, it plays to completion. I'm using the xine backend to phonon (the gstreamer backend doesn't work at all for some reason).

On my system this also happens with short *.wav files playing by the KDE's sound notification.
Currently I'm using mplayer to play these sound notification files... you can choose an external player in the 'player settings' tab in the 'notifications' configuration.

It's almost two years since the first bug report, but the problem is not fixed. The notification with any sound file just worked fine under kde3.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
