Expensiveness of switching layouts is not just about performance, it was also introducing many other problems, more than half a dozen of (quite ugly) kxkb bugs were closed just because we're switching groups now as x.org was designed. Workaround is possible but will take quite a bit of time to implement and will complicate maintainance. There was actually some work on improving xkb protocol but I have't followed it close enough latetly. Found and earlier request. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 174753 *** |
