What were you doing when the application crashed? Were you installing some package or updating your system packages? Thanks Marking as NEEDSINFO (In reply to comment #1) > What were you doing when the application crashed? Were you installing some > package or updating your system packages? Thanks I believe I have the exact same bug (all info listed below upon crash). I was updating my packages after a clean installation of KUbuntu 8.10 (from iso file, no changes or compilation), and while the update was in progress the kded crashed and reported the error. HTH. KDE version is 4.1.4 Bug Info: Application: KDE Daemon (kded4), signal SIGSEGV Thread 1 (Thread 0xb61258d0 (LWP 5675)): #0 0xb7f77430 in __kernel_vsyscall () #1 0xb7e79dc0 in sleep () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 #2 0xb7a31042 in KCrash::defaultCrashHandler () from /usr/lib/libkdeui.so.5 #3 0x00000000 in ?? Thanks David Brooks: if you aren't sure, open a new bug, we can mark it as a duplicate easily. We can't separate bug reports at *all* though. And currently this one is closed. For filing, "kde - general" is fine in this case. (Although see Dario's note.) Everybody: Putting anything else on here will make triagers cry. Guys, I'm really sorry for the incorrect backtrace post, I didn't know the protocol. The bug filing system pushes you through and encourages you to search for existing bugs, so that's what I did. I found one with a matching description (Segfault 11 on KDEd) and posted to that. I had no idea that you couldn't separate the bugs out. The other bug seems to be a kontact bug. It's extremely unlikely that this is the same bug I experienced as I do not run any of the kontact apps, and the backtrace said it was KDEd. I'll open a new bug report, as advised. My apologies and thanks for not feeding me to the wolves ;) Cheers, D Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been in NEEDSINFO status with no change for at least 15 days.
