When using a laptop with it's trackpad, it's fairly easy to do an unwanted scroll. I don't know if I'm making any sense. What I mean is that when I click on a application to focus on it and I try to move the mouse, I often make several other applications to focus/unfocus when I'm on the edge of my trackpad (happens roughly 70% of the time). It's quite irritating, and I have to resolve using the alt+tab key short cut to work around it.

It'd be ideal to offer an option to disable this behaviour. When using a normal mouse I'm aware that this could be a good idea to have this feature around, but with a laptop it renders the task manager quite unusable.

This would be really great to have...  I often hit the edgescroll accidentally, and even more often I hit it on purpose but forget about the position of the mouse cursor (which for some reason barely ever happens with a mouse).  Would love to be able to disable this.

Thanks I was feeling lonely, here. I completely removed the task manager from my desktop now, I couldn't stand it anyway. There is still the issue when scrolling with the mouse hover over the desktop now. I wonder why that doesn't attract more attention.

that's addressed in 4.4 with the mouse actions; this has become a plugin that can be associated with scroll wheeling. you can change that association in the configuration for the given Activity to pretty much anything you want.
