Description Thorsten Mühlfelder 2009-03-05 00:11:46 UTC
Version: svn 20090304 (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled From Sources

If I move an album folder out of Amarok's collection folder Amarok updates it's collection database and removes the album.
After moving back the album folder to it's original place Amarok updates it's collection database again, but the album doesn't reappear in the collection again.
In other words: It is impossible to get the album to the collection again.

I have several albums in a folder that do not show in the collection, regardless repeted scanning. All id-tags are correct. Some files are *ogg, some are *.flac.

Once you have deleted something it still is a "ghost entry" in the database (look at the count of available songs, it doesn't change after you delete something). When you re-add the files amarok doesn't seem to be able to recreate the information. Sometimes the re-added files appear as "Various artists" but with no content, sometimes they appear as zero byte files when you drag the whole collection to the playlist. When I drag the whole collection to the database I am able to play the re-added songs but amarok has no further information about them, just shows the file name. I need to delete the database to get the information back in.

This is fixed in git master, future 2.2. Please re-open if not.

I'm running today's GIT version (18.11.2009). If I edit an album that is already in the collection with EasyTag or with mp3gain and then notify Amarok with touch $albumdir the album just disappears from the collection.
The mysql album table entry looks like this:
| 5275 | | 2786 | NULL |

You can see that the album name has disappeared.

Did you try a complete rescan, then restart Amarok and see if the behavior persists? There has been a lot of work in the collection scanning lately, but you need an updated database to see the results.
Comment 12 Thorsten Mühlfelder 2009-11-18 21:51:23 UTC
Yes, a complete rescan from Amarok settings did not work. I'll delete the complete database now, start Amarok and scan the music again. Will give feedback if the problem persists.

I still have this problem:
Edited the id3 tag of one song in a specific album with easytag and did a "touch $albumdir" afterwards. After collection update the song disappeared from the collection.

OK, thanks for the feedback.
Comment 15 Sven Krohlas 2010-04-09 13:55:53 UTC
Does the album show up after a restart or after searching in the collection? Then it might be a dupe of bug 172542.
Comment 16 Thorsten Mühlfelder 2010-04-10 19:27:50 UTC
Just did the following:
1. Removed an low quality mp3 album from the disk
2. Ripped the album as Ogg Vorbis
3. Edited tags and filenames of the rip. Both to same values as the mp3s before (except file extension of course)
4. Moved the album to the collection

Amarok finds the album, but still lists it as mp3. I can drag it to the playlist, but files won't play. Restarting and searching in the collection does not help.

This may be another bug.
Comment 17 Myriam Schweingruber 2010-10-23 14:07:21 UTC
Is this still valid with Amarok 2.3.2 or later? Should be solved since quite some time.
Comment 18 Myriam Schweingruber 2010-10-31 16:34:47 UTC
Closing for lack of feedback. Feel free to reopen if you can reproduce this bug with Amarok 2.3.2 or later and can provide a valid backtrace.
Comment 19 Myriam Schweingruber 2010-10-31 16:35:30 UTC
Oops, sorry for the last line, of course no backtrace is needed as this is not a crash. Sorry for the noise.
