Description Pol 2009-02-23 11:09:39 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I've noticed that screen corners cannot be used as specific places to
 un-hide panels, as in kde3.
Will that feature be recovered, in the next kde4 release?

This is really hard to work with if you're used to it being in a corner.

Sorry, it is not clear what you mean.
I am used to unhide my panel pointing at a corner. I find it a very useful feature, preventing panel to pop up by mistake, as the mouse pointer reaches the screen border to move o resize windows.

thanks

I agree with you - I can't figure out how to set it to the corner like in KDE 3

I agree. Due to Fitt's law, the screen edges are hit very often. Having the panels pop up when one wants the window chrome or scrollbar is annoying and interferes with one's work. I cannot use hidden panels like this. Please add an option to open auto-hidden panels when the mouse hits the corners of the screen, not the edges. Thanks!

Hello!

This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

I just made a hacky script to do that

kwin script that toggle panel

https://www.opendesktop.org/p/1266534/

We can also add more feature to a panel by setting it up in (KDE System Settings - Window Manager - Window Rules - New - Detect Window Properties "And select your pannel"
