Description tony 2009-02-03 21:46:01 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

(Assuming kdelibs for this - apologies if it's the wrong compnent.)

When any application (Kmail, Ksnapshot, etc) is used to save a file, it has until 4.2 been possible to enter an absolute path for the file to save in the "Name" field. This is also the behaviour in non-KDE applications such as Firefox.

Since installing KDE4.2, I am unable to do this. A simple file name or a relative path work fine, but if the path is absolute, hitting "save" just results in the "name" field clearing but no action being taken.

I can confirm this bug with one small addendum: After entering an absolute filename, the "save as" dialog switches to the filname's path, but forgets the filename itself (name is cleared).

My system is Gentoo Linux with KDE 4.2 packages from kde-testing repository.
