Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

For consistency and convenience, launching apps from kickoff menu or krunner should be almost the same(as both are part of same DE), thus anything(app or file/folder) launched from kickoff should be added to the "Recently Used" tab in kickoff.

[Services Runner] Add launched applications to recently used list

Tell the KActivities daemon about launched applications so they show up in Kickoff.
