This has nothing to do.
Basically, what happened is that there's no more kdeprint in KDE 4, but we use the crap^W limited Qt4 system.
This is definitively a disadvantage again KDE3. Filters should be usable in KDE4 again. KDE Frameworks 5 or 6 might already have implemented this wish. If not, please re-open against the matching framework if feasible or against the application that shows the issue.
