What "libmsn" version are you using ? Thanks I don't use libmsn, it doesn't seem to be packaged neither for debian nor for kubuntu for now. This Kopete version includes a "Windows Live Messenger" Extention, you can see it when adding a new account; if you need the version please suggest me how to read it. Before kde 4.2 betas, however, I'm not sure about what was used, and sometimes the problem was already present. The "Windows Live Messenger" protocol in Kopete for KDE4.2 is now based in the "libmsn" library. (I don't know if Kopete keeps the old protocol and code for MSN, I think it doesn't, because one time I compiled Kdenetwork without having installed the "libmsn" lib, and the WLM protocol wasn't compiled) Kubuntu seems to have "libmsn" (at least in the test/unstable repo, and assuming you are using KDE4.2, it should be there) Anyways, if you said you had experience this in Kopete prior to KDE4.2 this may be a bug in Kopete itself (not in the protocol). I think libmsn is not used for now, it does not exist in standard repositories. May I check in 9.04 (kubuntu next version to be released, now at alpha 3) repo and manually install it as deb package? In that case, how do I make kopete load it and test if it work well? Looks like messages are not received when if they contain msn emoticons. Do you use OTR plugin? If so disable it and everything should be ok. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 182114 *** OTR plugin was disabled when the problem came out. Reopenning because it looks like it's different bug. Does this only happen only with wlm protocol? I can confirm this bug here. It happens so frequently that made me use kopete for KDE3 instead. I'll try to check if the emoticons are causing this. Using KDE 4.2.1 / libmsn0_1-3.9.91-3.17 on Opensuse 11.1 The problem happens on Kopete from KDE 4.2.2 too. Seems related to emoticons. That's probably a libmsn problem. Any chances to reenable the old msnplugin just to make possible to use kopete/kde4 with msn? (Forgot to mention webcam support :-) ) @ Roman Jarosz Tested emoticons with jabber protocol, works perfectly. Marcelo do you know which client the other user(s) use? Or could you send me the message which wasn't delivered? Sure The other side client is Windows Live Messenger 2009 14.0.8064.206 in PT-BR ( Brasilian Portuguese) The missed message was "ok :)" Hm, I've tried everything and cannot reproduce, could you uncheck Chat Window->Emoticons->Use the following emoticon theme and also disable plugins (history can be on) and see if it helps. Maybe it can be related to bug 188469 when you don't get message can you send? I've disabled Emoticons and all plugins, but every time a *custom* emoticom (don't know if thats the right word, I do not have any MS WLM here to check) is sent, I do not receive the message. It may be protocol related, since my friend saw several people using MS WLM, with emoticons problems (not working). I did the same emoticons tests with kopete 0.12.7 ( Kde 3.5.10 ) and the custom emoticons are not showed too - but the text of then are received. I've checked bug 188469. It happens with me also, but that's not the case here. I chat with my friend on kopete asking him to send me the emoticons and all messages are received but the ones that contains custom emoticons It's late here right now so I can't do more test today, but it would be great if you could go to Kopete irc channel (tomorrow, or after weekend) so we can debug this, I would need one of your friend to send me message with this custom emoticon or tell me how I can send it from WLM. SVN commit 976115 by rjarosz: If we don't get emoticons in 5 seconds show the pending message otherwise we could wait forever. There's also a bug in libmsn which will be fixed in libmsn 4.0 beta6.
