This is on opensuse 11.1 with nVidia GeForce 7300 GS with drivers from nvidias repo and using oxygen theme (but also on any other I tried) - when I open the application launcher/kickoff menu it appears OK - black border, white background, but on mouseover the white background in the central part of the menu becomes transparent. When moving the mouse up and down through the menu sometimes background under some items becomes white again, then goes back to transparent. All other plasmoids render correctly.

Im also attaching a screenshot with the effect.

It might be something unique with my configuration, because I had kde 4.1 on opensuse 11.0 and then did an upgrade to opensuse 11.1 and kde 4.2 by changing repository addresses (this also reinstalled nvidia drivers), which I think is not quite recommended by opensuse.

This are known bug of the NVIDIA driver. Try to update to the 180.xx series :)

Ahh, ok, thanks. Installed latest beta from nvidia site and app launcher renders correctly

I have had this bug under OpenSUSE 11.1 running KDE 4.2 Factory rpms and the latest 64bit Nvidia driver NVIDIA-Linux-ia64-1.0-5336-pkg1.run. Note that this is a ia64 install and happened when using a Leadtek Winfast 6800GT video card BUT the bug is NOT present when using an XFS 8800GS video card with exactly the same setup and drivers.
