I forgot to mention why I find the directory tree in the old sidebar so useful. I keep images in 3 main locations, ~/graphics, /ntfs/graphics and /fat32/graphics as I dual boot with WinXP and dabble in computer graphics as a hobby. I also realise this is a cumbersome directory structure. In the KDE3 version of Gwenview, changing from ~/graphics to /ntfs/graphics would just involve navigating the directory tree in the sidebar. In Gwenview 4.1.3, It is at least 2 extra mouse clicks, clicking the "Start Page" icon, and if haven't the directory isn't in the recent directories list, click the "Root" icon and then navigating to it. I find it very distracting having to leave the "Browse" or "View" views/windows to navigate to a different directory. Thinking about it, a recently used directories list in the sidebar in the "View" and "Browse" views/windows as well as the "Home" view would go a long way to ease this. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 173850 *** |
