I noticed this annoying bug:

When you change the Filter to only show your unread messages and then jump to another folder, kmail forgets the setting and again shows all messages.
You need to change the Filter setting everytime you jump to another folder.

I think this is the intended behaviour.

You can achieve the desired behaviour in a better way with the tabs (one tab contains a message list and its displaying status).
